What it is microneedling?

Microneedling for the face and neck is a non-invasive procedure that uses a needling pen to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger your skin's own natural healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. The result is improved skin texture and tone, along with a visible reduction in scarring and fine lines.

This microneedling treatment goes beyond a standard facial. Body acupuncture, based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, are included to support a truly holistic approach to skin health and beauty. Each session also features LED Light Therapy to maximize collagen production and tissue rejuvenation.

Registered Acupuncturist & Insurance Receipts

Your treatment is performed by a Registered Acupuncturist and includes an acupuncture treatment based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A registered acupuncture receipt is provided with your treatment, which means all or a portion of your session may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your extended health plan. We recommend checking with your provider for details on your coverage.

Recommended Treatment Plan

For optimal results, a series of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended, depending on your individual skin goals. Cosmetic acupuncture treatments can be added weekly in between microneedling sessions to improve results.

Who Microneedling Is For?

Microneedling is safe for all skin tones and is an excellent option for anyone looking to strengthen and improve their skin, rather than stripping away precious layers as some other procedures do. If you've recently had cosmetic injectables, please wait 2 weeks after Botox and 4 weeks after fillers before your treatment.

Contraindications

Microneedling may not be suitable for you if any of the following apply:

Accutane use within the past 6 months
Scleroderma, collagen vascular disease, or cardiac abnormalities
Rosacea
Blood clotting problems or platelet abnormalities
Anticoagulation therapy (e.g., Warfarin)
Facial cancer, past or present
Chemotherapy or steroid therapy
Dermatological diseases affecting the face (e.g., Porphyria)
Diabetes and other chronic conditions
Active bacterial or fungal infections
Immune-suppression
Scars less than 6 months old
Botox or facial fillers in the past 2–4 weeks

Treatment is not recommended for patients who are nursing. Precautions are taken with keloid or raised scarring, eczema, psoriasis, actinic keratosis, and herpes simplex.

Downtime

Expect minimal downtime of 1–3 days, with mild effects only.

Pregnancy Safe

No — microneedling is not recommended during pregnancy.
